Loughborough falcons kicked off the start of the seaon in great fashion with a 1 nil home win against a trying gaunt side. the first half started very brightly with the falcs creating loads of chances but failing to convert them. Great work from the midfeild through, c dawson, bishop, molloy and man of the match darren barrett, kept creating the chances but nothing materialised until good work from barrett down the right side created a shooting chance for adam barrigan, which he converted well to give us a 1-nil lead going into the break. Second half began the same as the 1st , gaunt became more dangerous but great defence from moult, gunn, locker and radforth kept them at bay, while at the other end chances kept coming but never happened, locker hitting the post and noble shooting wide. the change of forwards made imeadiate impact with both parkin and richardson missing easy chances, still the goal would not come, but with gaunt creating very little the final whistle came and falcons got there 1st win of the new season.

This was our second home game of the season against a very physical whatton side, the 1st half provided little footie but plenty of battle, which suited whatton and this showed when they took the lead with a break away goal, this waked us up and a great cross from M Bishop was met by the head of R Locker who made it 1 all before the break, the rest of the half being played in hot conditions was battled in midfield and both sides waited for the half time whistle. 2nd half falcs started brightly and created a few chances, which again were not taken untill Locker scored his and falcs 2nd with a well taken goal. The game went a bit messy, with no one looking like scoring until a routine through ball was not cleared and whatton equalised with a sharpe finish, After this falcs could have scored on several occasions but again the finishing touch didnt come, and in injury time D Barrett picked up a cross field ball which he controlled, took another touch and leathered the ball passed the whatton keeper into the top corner, a few seconds later the whistle went and another 3 points for falcs. We will need to up our game in the coming weeks if we want to finish as high up as possible

Todays home game was played in windy conditions down the drome, against a strong hard working wymeswold side which won the treble last season. The 1st half was played mainly in falcs half with wymeswold looking dangerous with several attacks and with the wind behind them it was only a matter of time before they scored, and just before the half time whistle this happened with wymeswold having a spare man at the far post and robbie pitman scoring with a great finish, 0-1, Falcons did not really start the game very well and this painted a picture of the whole game The 2nd half with the wind behind us was alittle different but the wymweswold goal remained in tacked untill joe jonas forced a great save from there keeper with out 1st shot of the match. But while we tried to get forward wymeswold always look danergous on the break and from a great cross mooch made it 2- 0 with a free header. Later on in the game we forced a corner which M. Radforth converted with a far post header 1-2. The last 15 mins we tried to push looking for an equaliser but great defending and a lack of attacking ideas resulting in the 3rd wymeswold goal right at the end with a one on one scored by P.Hamblin, which drew massive celebrations from the wymeswold players ( mooch ). the game ended with wymeswold easily deserving there win.

Our 1st away game of the season was played on hatherns very small pitch in windy conditions. falcons started this game well on top and created a few half chances through barrett, jonas and locker but the strong hathern defence kept us out untill a long bouncing effort from R Locker eluded the keeper to put us one up ,1-0, then just before half time a cross from the left fell to falcons old boy stu liddell who made no mistake to equalise with an unstoppable header. 1-1. The 2nd half started pretty lame with very little action from both sides, untill a cross field ball was met by the unmarked hathern right back who slotted it under neilson to put hathern 2-1 up. Falcons head dropped and it was not long before another old falcons player Ian Liddell burst through to score a one on one with neilson 3-1. This seemed to wake us up alittle, and we created a few half decent chances but some great defending and a poor final ball kept the score as it was, Not evan a 30 yard goal from new boy (3-2) Rich Phillips was enough and a below par performance was met by the final whistle

This was a historic night for the falcs, as we got invited to play in a saturday cup, and do our bit for the local charitys. The game itself was played in a frantic a pace, not really suiting both sides, and very little was created in the 1st half, but great work from the falcs, defence consisting of radorth, gunn, locker and the ever reliable moult keep a big hathern side at bay. while all round the park the lads worked very hard. 0-0 After a half time talk of not giving anything away early came back to haunt us, with hathern taking the lead from a mistake in our midfield, 1-0, this spurred hathern on and the next 5 mins falcons panicked and needed to remain calm, and after we got through this little spell we picked up the pace, and looked comfy. with the game getting on a bit, ross locker hit a long range shot which the keeper let go and sub danny parkin followed up to equalise 1-1, to his and the crowds delight, and also getting booked in the process from an over the top celebration. right before the death falcs could and should of won it with a andy heffer shot and a daz barrett header, but the final whistle went and the game went straight to pens, R, Locker, S Moult, D, Parkin, M, Bishop and C, Dawson all scored with Jordan King our keeper saving R, Wilsons pen to win us the game, won 5-4 after pens,

A very disappointing draw at home against a very weak saints side was not good enough for falcs, but at the same time stopping the losing run which was delevloping. The 1st period was played mainly in midfield with the falcs creating a few half decent chances, but lacking any real threat, especially with saints ONLY playing 2 defenders. The only time we got a real chance was when parkin was brought down in the area and the ref gave a free kick outside the box, which cam noble did his best to miss. And the half finished 0-0. The second half was alot better with falcs scoring through danny parkin after a great through ball from daz barrett 1-0 , and not long after this it was 2-0 with scot telfer also scoring a one on one with another great defence spliting pass from young ryan molloy. At this stage we were crusing and like the norm, we let in the softest of goals, with sereval falcs players just watching saints run through us 2-1. and before long they leveled with another simple goal 2-2, after this we scored again from ross locker but, was ruled out from some lino, who didnt ave a clue. the game finished and we were all gutted with the outcome. With our massive squad and a lack of quality on field, im sure they will be changes for another local derby next week.

In our 2nd away game of the season, falcs finally played with the determination and guile which we are capable of everyweek, The 1st 15 mins was played at frantic pace, with both sides failing to settle and very little was created, A couple of long shots from darren barrett troubled the lions keeper, but the score remained 0-0, untill barrett picked up the ball from the half way line ran towards the shelly goal and unleshed a rocket from 30 yards to put us 1 up, 0-1, this inspired us and we created a few more good chances, which gunn, barrett and locker all hitting the wordwork and the half came to an end much to the relief of the lions players. The second period was a great advert for sunday footie, with shelly coming out of the blocks stronger but never really creating many chances, with the strong falcs back line keeping them at bay, then from a great craig dawson pass barrett out paced the home defence to slot in 2-0, and within a couple mins the fantasic and quite clearly man of match barrett completed a great hat trick with a cool finish after great work from big locker, 3-0.Shelly came back into the game and scored from some sloppy marking 3-1, at this stage the game was in the balance but with some great midfield passing from bishop, barrett again and dawson, ross locker scored his 1st goal of the game, 4-1, falcs hit the bar again from a bishop thunderbolt and richardson missed a sitter from close range. with the game getting old mr barrett scored his 4th goal of the game after another good passing move 5-1. shelly scored through the ever dangerous matt langham, 5-2, and ross locker completed the scoring after the clumsy lions keeper was caught in no mans land and locker tapped in from the angle, 6-2. the complete the game. A good performance from the lads today but we can still play better and as long as we enjoy the game we always have a good chance, especially with a massive test next week against birstall.

The second round of the evarards cup saw us drawn away to the treble winners from last season, and probably the tie no one wanted, In windy cold conditions falcons set there stall out to spoil wymeswolds flow and catch them on the break using darren barretts pace with chris richo and danny parkin holding the ball up as much as possible, but this never really happened and losing richardson to injury made the game plan even more inaffective, but quite a tight back line and some good solid midfield battling limited wymeswold to few chances and the game finished 0 - 0 at the break. The second period was totally different and it was not long before wymeswold scored through a mooch/own goal after falcons tried to play offside 1-0, this hit the falcons hard and wymeswold grew stronger and it was not long till pitman scored to make the game 2-0, with another great finish. 3-0 followed from some terrible marking in the falcons area from a corner and maclennnnan tapped in from close range, and to top it off another free header from another corner completed a dire display from the falcs, 4-0. the final whistle went with very little to mention in falcons attacks, but players such as danny parkin, mark radforth and andy nielson all had fine games.and we went out the cup at the 1st hurdle.

This our 9th game of the season and we still cannot pick from a full-strength squad with nine of our squad missing but we were still able to field a decent side Right from the first whistle we were totally in control of the first half and was rewarded with a goals from a Daniel Parkin 3, Ross Locker and og and was unlucky not to add two or three more but we went at the break 5-0 to the good. Second half we took our foot off the accelerator and Babington started to get into the game little by little and they were rewarded with two goals after that we settled down once again and took control of the game but missing chance after chance luckily with 10 minutes to go a goal from Adam Barrigan killed the game off and we ran out 6-2 winners

We controlled this game right from the word go with some good football and were creating chance after chance but it wasn't until the 20th minute that a good cross from the left found rich Phillip's who had time to place the ball into Whattons net. We continued to dominate and were rewarded again after 35 minutes with another good cross from the left which found Cameron Noble's head to put us 2-0 up and cruising, we should have added two or three more goals but the inevitable happened a lack of concentration in an our defence let Whatton in to pull one-back and we went in at the break 2-1 to the good The second half was much the same as the first chance after chance going missing but on the hour a good header by Paul Gunn from a corner found the Whatton net to give us a 3-1 victory we were pleased to come away with three points but was disappointed with the number of chances we missed

We had the best start you could wish for going straight from kick-off with a brilliant move down the left and a cross finding Cameron Noble who with a powerful header found Gaunts net. We were in control of the game but in the 10th minute Gaunt were awarded a penalty which they promptly converted to bring the score level, we were still controlling the game with some of the best football we have played this season and at last was rewarded when Daniel Parkin converted a well taken corner to take us into a 2-1 advantage and five minutes later we went 3-1up with a good move through the middle of the park which ended with Adam Barrigan sliding the ball past Gaunts advancing keeper. The second half saw the pitch deteriotng through the bad weather both teams started to play the long ball which resulted in neither team creating a good chance but with 10 minutes to go Gaunts were awarded another penalty but a brilliant save from our stand in keeper Kris Richardson denied them a goal, if they had converted this penalty the last 10 minutes would have been a nail-biting time for us

Advance Couriers have won the Sunday Premier Cup twice in the last 4 years so we knew we had to play our best to have a chance of winning but we found ourselves 1-0 down after only two minutes and for the next 15 minutes Couriers dominated the game but we slowly got back into our game and created some good chances and should have at least put two of them away but for their keeper bringing off some brilliant saves to keep the score at 1-0 at the break. We started the second half where we had left off before the break and were playing most of the game in Couriers half but on the 60th minute a counter-attack found Couriers forward who sliding the ball past our advancing keeper to take the score 2-0 but within two minutes we had pulled one back through a good cross from Adam Locker which found Stephen Moult at the far post to score his first ever goal for Falcons, we carried on dominating the game but with 12 minutes to go Couriers broke again down their left and with some good play from their winger he planted the ball into net to make the score 3-1, for the last 10 minutes or so we were camped out in their penalty-area and was awarded a penalty which Cameron Noble converted with no problem from then on till the end of the game shots were going in from all angles but we could not get the ball past Couriers stubborn defence and their brilliant keeper and the referee finally blew for full-time We were disappointed that we should have at least took the game into extra time but it was not to be and we wish Advance Couriers all the best in the next round

Hathern beat us at the beginning of this season 3-2 so we were out for a bit of revenge and having nealy a full squad to pick from we were quietly confident that we would put on a good performanc the first 10 minutes were pretty even but after 12 minutes a 25 yard shot from Ross Locker found the net to take us into the lead but within five minutes the referee awarded a penalty to Hathern but they could not convert it from then on we started to control the game and two further goals were added through Cameron Noble and Ryan Molloy to take us into the break winning 3-0 The second half started with Hathern on the attack but could not break down out defence we were awarded a free-kick just outside Hatherns penalty box which Ross Locker gave their keeper no chance with a powerful shot to make the score 4-0 Hathern pulled one back with a scrappy goal but we soon cancelled that out when Ryan Molloy rounded their advancing keeper to calmly slot the ball into an empty net and with Ross Locker going on to get his hat-trick ,Hathern pulled another goal back to make the score 6-2 but with our substitute Chris Richardson scoring a brilliant goal and Ross Locker going to net his 4th goal we ran out convincing 8-2 winners

With 6 of our squad unavailable for this premier cup game it meant we were down to the bare 11 this in the end was probably why we lost The game was a lot closer than the scoreline reflects even though Wymeswold took a 2-0 early lead through two soft goals but from then on we started to play a some good football and was unlucky not to pull back a couple of goals but we went in at half-time 2-0 down. We were on top throughout the second half and brought the score back to 2-2 with goal from Mark Radforth and Ross Locker but we could not get the winner even though we hit bar and somehow they managed to scramble a couple of chances off their line and with their keeper making a couple of brilliant saves the game went into extra time with Wymeswold making substitutions they eventually went on to score two more goals to take them into the semi final of the premier cup

Not a lot to report from Falcons on this game only that we were down to the bare 11 plays again but for the first 20 minutes were playing quite well and then an injury to Danny Parkin in which virtually ruled him out of the rest of the game even though he did stop on the pitch, soon after Wymeswold scorerd 2 quick goals which ended any chance of us getting anything from this game. Wymeswold went on to score 6 more to run out 8-0 victors the only consolation we could look at was that we scored eight goals past them in a Premier Cup game last season so they have evened things up let's hope we get a full squad back next week so we can get back to winning ways

Markfield are not having that good a season winning one league game so far so we were quietly confident that we would come away with all three points. We dominated the game right from the start created some real good chances but did not convert one till 15th minute through kris Richardson the second goal soon followed with good move down the left and a brilliant cross from Ryan Molloy found Danny Parkin to make the score 2-0 and just before of half time Ryan Molloy got our third to take us into the break winning 3-0. With our domination it was only a matter of time before we added to the score with further goals from Marc Radforth and Scott Telfer and Ryan Molloy getting his second to take the score to 6-0. Markfield had their 10 minutes at the end and were rewarded with a good goal to make the final score 6-1

We played Markfield last week and won them quite easily 6-1 so we were hoping to have the same type of results today and all was going well we were 3 goals up through the Ross Locker Cameron Noble and Danny Parkin within the first 25 minutes, we were thinking it was just going to be a matter of how many goals we would score and then for some reason the referee decided to introduce his own rules which killed the game stone dead the only highlight from then on was a disputed penalty he gave to Markfield but somehow you knew that they were going to miss it which they did and in the end we came away we will 3pts

Having nearly our full squad for probably the first time this season to select from we were hoping that we could produce some good football that has been lacking this season and so it was right from the start we commanded this game and we soon took the lead through an individual effort from Ross Locker, five minutes later Adam Barrigan found the net with a well placed shot then a terrific free kick from Craig Dawson gave their keeper no chance and to round off our domination of the first half a great individual goal from Richard Phillips to take us into half-time winning 4-0 Shelthorpe started the second half with a bit more enthusiasm and with us taking our foot off the accelerator Shelthorpe got more and more confident and they were rewarded with a scrappy goal midway through the half this brought us back to life and from then on we started to dominate the game again and with 10 minutes to go a corner from Ryan Molloy found Mark Radforth who had no hesitation in powerfully heading the ball into the net to make the final score 5-1 this performance was probably the best so far this season let's hope we can continue to produce this type of performance for our remaining 3 game's

Having nearly a full squad for the second successive game we had a good chance of getting something from this match We started at a good pace and was out playing Birstall in every position and in the 10th minute through some good play down the left and a pin point cross from Cameron Noble which found Danny Parkin at the far post who had no hesitation to volley the ball into the Birstall net to give us 1-0 lead Birstall had no answer to our attacking football untill the 20th minute when they got the equaliser through a sloppy corner but within two minutes we had taken the lead again through some good football which ended with Danny Parkins getting his second. We were containing Birstall with no problem until the 30th minute when the referee through a real bad decision altered the game completely Birstall attacked down their left and Paul Gunn came across and fouled their winger the Ref who was standing in the centre circle ran over and decided it was a penalty and also showed the red card to Paul Gunn saying he had denied them a scoring opportunity even though we |
