A 6-0 win against current champions Birstall Stamford is a fantastic result but the score could have easily been in double figures, with both teams teams fielding full strength sides we thought that we would be in for a good hard game no way did we think that we would totally outplay them on our first game of the season.It was a good all round team performance and an outstanding game by Ashley Day on his debut scoring his hat-trick and further goals coming from Ross Locker, Scott Telfer and Scott Goodman. For the first 15 minutes Birstall was well on top playing a long ball game which we were not expecting them to do because usually thay play a good footballing game but they caught us out twice and squandered the chances they had. Both teams were finding it hard to play a passing game on this big rock hard pitch and mistakes were being made by both teams. We were up for this game right from the start having not played for the last two weeks and we totally dominated the first 20 minutes and were rewarded with two goals by Danny Parkin but we let the Trees back into the game with a soft goal in the 80th minute the game could have gone either away with both teams creating good chances but in the 60th minute a well taken goal by Nick Harvey put us into a 3-1 lead. This was one of those games that not one or two players played below par but nearly all the team we could not get our game together at all.
